It’s finally here the newest installment to the Pokemon TCG(Trading Card Game). That’s right Heart Gold and Soul Silver have already hit the shelves are selling like wild fire. So what new cards should we be looking out for? Any new level X’s? Well I’ll answer all these question and somethings for you.
In the Heart Gold/Soul Silver expansion there are no Lv.X Cards instead they’ve been replaced by the stunningly illustrated Primes. So far the primes we know of are: Meganium Prime, Feraligator Prime, Typhlosion Prime, Ampharos Prime, Donphan, and Blissey Prime. Naturally being the new “in” card they’re all holographic rares. The illustrations are great on these new cards showing a close up on the Pokemon’s face. With a dark background to the cards it gives are sort of forbidden feel to it, not to mention these cards pack a serious punch for all you battle trainers out there.
In addition to the primes the legend cards have also been released. Two cards, but the catch is each card it requires to pieces to complete. So in reality there are four cards total, to clarify each card is either the top or bottom of the complete card. The Pokemon depicted on these two legend cards are Heart Gold/Soul Silvers flagships Ho-oh and Lugia. Nintendo really have outdone themselves with the illustrations of the legend cards all pieces are fully holographic and when combined make a gorgeous pictures that is stunningly visually. So far the ruling of using these actual cards in combat has not been announced, however, i’m sure we’ll hear something of it soon.
Now that we’ve covered the really important stuff on to the rest of the cards. As this of course is the Heart Gold/Soul Silver expansion you Diamond/Pearl fans don’t have too much to look forward to. Also with that said new eevee evolutions Leafeon and Glaceon don’t make an appearance. This expansion is still in my opinion one of the best collector’s expansions as even the energy cards have been remastered and look great.
Of course commons and uncommons will feature Johto/Kanto Pokemon, new Unown cards feature multiple Unown in the same card saving collectors the hassle of finding them all separately, and with Unown comes the secret rare of the set Alpha Lithograph, rumor to only be slipped inside once every two booster boxes. Also in the set is the shiny red Gyarados many collectors are pining after.
